How to Communicate Better With Your Marketing Team

Marketing is an absolutely critical facet of any business, regardless of its size. However, all too often, marketing is treated as its own separate entity, rather than an integrated division within a business.

There's no mystery to marketing, but the marketing division may be left clueless if you fail to properly integrate them into your overall efforts. A huge part of this integration is proper communication. To that end, here's a look at how to better communicate with your marketing team.

Collaboration Platforms

One of the many things now available to firms of almost any size is a variety of collaboration platforms. These programs, such as Slack, Trello, or Hive, allow for a variety of features. These include chat, project management, task assignment and more. These kinds of software are great for helping to keep everyone on the same page. By incorporating your marketing team into these programs, you can be sure that they are aware of what you are working on in your business, helping them better understand all aspects of your firm and better integrate with your overall business model.

Text Messaging

People read their texts within three minutes of getting them, making it a fast way of getting a message across. This is even more true for younger generations, who typically prefer text or messaging forms of communication above all others. If this is the case for your marketing team, it's incumbent upon you to shift your methods of communication in order to incorporate the preferences of your team.

Regular Meetings

They can be annoying and time-consuming, but there's a reason that so many businesses meet on a regular basis: They work. Holding regular meetings can help update your team about what your marketing division is doing and make sure that you know what they are working on. This enhanced communication can be critical to ensuring that your marketing division can properly grasp what your business is working on and how they can be helpful. Don't have time for a regular meeting? No problem. At a bare minimum, send out a regular email that contains various status updates. This will enable your team to see what's going on and see how they can help.

Ensuring proper communication with your marketing team is about more than good business. It helps to ensure that your entire team is talking properly. This, in turn, creates a more pleasant work environment and can make a business a much better experience for everyone involved.
