There’s nothing quite like August heat in North Carolina, but there are still plenty of fun events happening around Winston-Salem. Now, get out there and enjoy these dog days of summer before the kids go back to school, class is in session, and fall starts creeping in with cooler nights.

MVP Beer Fest

Saturday, August 24, 2019 | 2pm - 6pm

Beer and baseball? Please and thank you!

Join us in supporting more than 100 local and regional breweries at Winston’s own BB&T ballpark. There will be local food trucks and vendors to shop from, a silent auction, and all sorts of baseball themed activities! This is a family friendly event complete with a kids’ zone, so don’t hesitate to bring the whole clan.

If you’re planning on indulging in some of NC’s finest brews, your ticket will be $40.00 in advance or $45.00 at the gate. If you’re a designated driver or an underaged participant, your ticket is just $10.00, so go ahead and grab your tickets early!

UNCSA Community Music School Fall Open House & Parent Orientation

August 24, 2019 | 9am - 12pm

The University of North Carolina School of the Art’s fall semester open house and parent orientation meeting provides parents and children the chance to meet the perfect music teacher for you or a family member.

Come meet teachers for young maestros as young as 6 months old or come mingle with teachers and find yourself a pro to teach you how to play your favorite instrument. At the fall open house, you can take demo lessons, attend a Suzuki Violin class demo, get sized for violin or cello rental, or try out instruments in UNCSA’s instrument “petting zoo.”

For parents with little ones:

Parents, this is a great opportunity to learn more about registration and program details and attend a 15 minute parent meeting at 9:15 AM to learn more about programs like:

  • Children's chorus
  • Royal Conservatory Method music theory
  • Group piano
  • Youth ensembles

UNCSA's Community Music School provides a complete musical education that includes regular instruction with professional faculty members, recitals, chamber music options, and music theory and ear training courses. This event is free and open to all, so come mix and mingle with the UNCSA community to find the best fit for you and/or your family!
